Posts On Writing March 2008

It’s time for another round up of interesting articles I’ve found on the web. As usual, most of these are to do with the business of freelancing, but there are a few about blogging and promotion.
What Is My Worth? is a question that many freelancers ask. Maybe it’s time to think about Reviewing Your Writing Rates so that you can work smarter and improve your net worth. 80-20 Freelancing will help you with that goal, but first, make sure that you join 50 Professional Networks for Freelancers. It’s one of many Ways to Get More Customer Referrals for Your Freelance Business.
I’m working on a list of Things to Consider Before Applying for a Gig but first I need to Create an Automatic Flow of Work With a ‘Hire Me’ Page and read up on How to Use LinkedIn to Create Authoritative Content. It’s all part of How to Use the Web to Build A Powerful Reputation In Any Industry.
For me, one of the most important parts of freelancing is client communication. To get started I’m building My Blog Client Wish List and considering Five Signs that You Need to Say No. And if negotiating new terms is an issue, there’s advice on What to Do When Your Project Outgrows the Agreement.
It’s always wise to think about your business, which is why I enjoyed 10 Things University Didn’t Teach Me About Writing and Five Blogs That You Should Already Be Reading.
I’ve also been checking out 10 Completely Free Guides to Building a Better Blog and The Blogger’s Guide To Building Your Own ‘Advertise Here’ Page. Most bloggers will appreciate 48 Unique Ways To Use WordPress as well ass 99 Ways To Improve Your Blog.
Finally, here’s something to ponder: What You Don’t Publish, Defines Your Site.
Happy reading.

Glad you like it, Kristen.
@James: I learn from everything I read. Thanks for giving me an example. I think you and a couple of people commented last month that there was a better way to do these. I haven’t gone for the fictional link love suggested by the other person yet, but I had fun putting this together.
@ Dana: As if you didn’t have enough to do, right?
