  • Is It Time To Quit The Day Job?: For a lot of us, freelance writing starts out as something we do in our spare time. We write after doing a full day’s work, on evenings, weekends and holidays. We write because we must, because we feel an inner compulsion to see whether the thing we’ve always loved can help us to earn a living.
  • My Two Year Adsense Experiment: It’s been just over two years since I first signed up with Google Adsense. Like most people, when I first put Adsense on my first blog, I thought I would soon be earning large sums of money, but it didn’t happen.

  • Where Writers And Editors Meet: In effect, freelancers and editors are dealing with each other from behind a curtain. The writers don’t really know what the editor wants, the editor has no idea if this person is going to produce a marketable piece of writing or make deadline. It’s really a crapshoot on both ends
  • When Silence Is Golden: Even if you’re an experienced freelance writer, there’s no guarantee that the people offering the work will get back to you. But, as I’ve learned recently, just because you don’t hear anything it doesn’t mean that your application has fallen into a black hole.
  • How To Create A Writing Portfolio: As a freelance writer, one of the best ways to attract new writing work is to show off examples of work you’ve already done. When I started out in journalism, that meant rigorously collecting copies of every newspaper, newsletter, journal or magazine in which I had a bylined piece

  • My Desk Is Broken: My keyboard shelf is currently propped up against a wall. I’m typing with a keyboard on my lap. This takes me back to last year, when I moved into the house and was working under some unusual conditions.
  • PayU2Blog Review: I’ve been blogging for PayU2Blog for some time now and this is the biggie. The payouts are at the low end - $5 a post - but the work is regular and plentiful, and no blogger could ask for more.
  • Getting More Work From Existing Clients: Referral marketing is the name of the game for freelance writers and I show you how I do it in my latest guest post on Michael Stelzner’s Writing White Papers.

    Sharon,

I understand PayU2Blog requires you to accept all opps that they assign, which is why I haven’t pursued working with this company although they did approve my blog recently. Can you tell me what types of opps they’ve assigned you? (Sorry that I haven’t had the time to check myself!)

I can’t say I’m exactly thrilled with the idea of someone else determining what content I must post to my blog. Any insight you may have about this company would be most welcome!

    Thanks!
    Jeanne

Thanks for stopping by, everyone. You’re right Courtney, time flies.

Jeanne, PayU2blog doesn’t give you any choice about the opps, though if you really object to one you can ask them to assign it to a different blog or to someone else. It’s one of the reasons why I don’t use PayU2blog on this blog, though I do on two of my other blogs. What some people do is start up a Blogger blog for the purpose of doing paid postings. Once it’s indexed, many of the services will accept it. One of my paid posting blogs is on Blogger. The other is the blog on my original site, which is going to change focus, so I’m less worried about using paid posting there.

    Sharon,

Thanks so much for that info! You’ve just confirmed my conviction that I made the right decision by not following through with this company!

    Have a great day!
    Jeanne
