Like A Ninja

While waiting for a phone call, I decided to do some stumbling. One of the first sites I stumbled across was NinjaWords, which claims to be a fast, accurate online dictionary. It certainly is fast - and it seems to be accurate. It also stores your search history. You can search for several words at once, compare definitions and find the one you want. It’s a great tool for writers.
If you’re using an online dictionary, you probably also need an online thesaurus (you know, for those many times when the built in MS Word one won’t do). I’ve tried two: Thesaurus.com and Merriam Webster. I have a slight preference for the first one, because it’s slightly more comprehensive for those of us who use British English as well as American English. Lest I be accused of partiality, I should say that in the print versions, the Merriam Webster has a far superior and more user friendly layout than Roget’s Thesaurus, on which Thesaurus.com is based.
