Get Paid To Write Online Writer Mentoring
Posted on 17 October 2008 by Sharon
I’m pleased to announce the launch of my writer mentoring service. It’s designed for people who want more personal and tailored advice than I can give in a single blog post. When I started writing, I got lots of advice from people with experience in the industry, and that’s what I’d like to do for others. Visit my mentoring page for full details of the service, as well as reviews from people I’ve mentored. Hope to chat with you soon.
Here are some of the topics I’ve covered with the writers I’ve mentored.
- Avoiding scams
- Blog hosting
- Ebook writing
- Finding topics that will bring in Adsense money
- Ins and outs of ghostwriting
- Payment options
- Presenting clips
- Self promotion
- SEO
- Setting rates
- Social promotion and business networking
- Time management
- Types of writing gigs
- Which bidding sites are really worth it
Although I cover these topics on the blog, the payoff for my clients is that in our mentoring sessions, we can discuss these topics in a targeted way that starts where they are now. In addition, I’ve looked at writing samples and drafts and provided constructive criticism to help my clients to improve. We’ve even discussed business opportunities.
By the way, this is the 500th post on Get Paid To Write Online. I think you’ll agree that launching the mentoring service is a great way to mark this milestone.

Anyone who wants to get their start should consider working with Sharon. Sharon was one of my original mentors in early 2006 and helped me get my writing career off the ground!
She’s a well of knowledge about the freelance writing industry!

Hey Sharon,
First time comment and long time reader of your blog. I think this is a fantastic idea of your mentoring service just when I just wrote a post about getting your own writing mentor. Congratulations on the 500th post!

I have been writing almost daily since I’ve been able to pick up a pen. I really would like to put my efforts to good use (financially)but I don’t have a clue where to begin. Should I just start sending samples to magazines? Will my lack of a degree hinder me in my search for a descent paying freelance writing career? Thoughts? Thank you very much…..
