Comment Competition
Posted on 08 October 2008 by Sharon
I’ve been thinking for a while of running a competition on this blog, and a recent offer from UPrinting has given me the chance to do just that. So I now present (drumroll, please): the Get Paid To Write Online comment competition. The rules are simple.
1. Leave a comment on this post to let me know that you are entering. Feel free to say what you will do with the business cards if you win
2. Leave a useful and interesting comment on another recent post on this blog. I’m looking for comments that add something to the discussion.
There are three prizes up for grabs. The winner (as judged by our panel of one - me) will get 500 free business cards from Uprinting, and the two runners-up will get 250 cards each.
Closing date: Wednesday 15th October. UPDATE: The competition is now closed. Thanks to all who entered. Winners will be notified soon.
Uprinting provides business cards on a range of stocks, including eco friendly business card printing.
Welcome to Get Paid To Write Online. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or get email alerts about new content. Thanks for visiting.

I’m in!
I don’t think I should continue my contest series here, as “Jack and Jill, All Funk’d Up” is for writing contests
If I win, you know what I’m gonna do with my cards, Sharon?
I’m going to put a secret code on them and link them to goodies on my upcoming board game website.
Then I’m going to leave them in Toys R US! LOL
Have fun with your contest!
Cheers,
Mitch

What a fabulous idea and a great way for one procrastinator over here to try and get some business cards! I keep meaning to get some done as I ran out just before my wedding and have to get new ones done up with the new name, but it somehow hasn’t moved up the priority list and gets rather embarrassing when meeting with new potential clients as of late. Count me in as an entry..

Oh, count me in too!
I have a new logo that I’d love to get onto new business cards that focus on the new slant of my freelancing services. It’s an expense I can’t justify from my business finances at this point since I do, technically, have cards that I can hand out but I’d really love to be able to have cards that are focused for the two aspects of my business.
Plus, I might as well enter since I was planning to give you a comment raid anyway.
It’s been too long since I took time to absorb the brilliant content you write, Sharon. I’m looking forward to spending time here tonight.
P.S. Plugged Get Paid To Write Online at my blog today. *grins*

Great innovative idea.
I will give them to my new new friends, if the cards are designed in an attractive and innovative manner. Most of the Business Cards are old-fashioned, they are just stored and never appeal to relook at them again and again.

It’s always helpful to offer something when you having a contest. I hope it goes well, good luck.

One thing that I have seen other people do is to remove the “no follow” links and make them “do follow”. Some people have a logo on their blogs that say “you comment , I follow”
Most people dont know what it means. But for those who are looking for a little seo love– it means something.
Of course, people cant be rude and drop comments that are not well thought out. You can always moderate those out.
But it keeps the real participants — coming back for a little more.
I am thinking of doing that on my blog.

Also — I dont know how yours works. But if someone leaves a comment — they should automatically be subscribed to the thread.
I overlooked the “tick here to keep track of this conversation” the first time around.
I would make that an auto subscribe. I cant tell you how many times I have made a comment on a blog. And I dont get emailed when someone else comments on the thread. Then I have to remember what blog I was at. Sometimes I am just up surfing. I am not paying that much attention but I thought enough about the writers post to comment.
